Starlet 60-Series (1978-1984)
1981 Starlet 1000 (KP60)
This is the first Starlet hatchback form, and Station Wagon models are also available. The machine used is 1000 cc, 1200 cc or 1300 cc. Starlet rear wheel is in Japan marketed in Standard trim levels, DX, XL, XL Lisse, S, and SE.
The early models had round headlights, while the 1980 facelift model comes with front light box. For 1983, both with a Starlet gets a facelift headlights and a new grille boxes, as well as a new rear lights with the door open lower trunk.
KP61 Starlet 3 door is a model ever sold in the United States in 1981 through 1984.
Starlet 70-Series (1985-1989)
1987 Starlet 1.3 SE (EP71)
Starlet now front-wheel drive with the new engine 12 valve 1000 cc or 1300 cc 1E 2E. In Japan, there is Starlet of 1300 cc engine that uses 2E-E injection, and turbo-telu 2E. Starlet 1,500 cc diesel engine was also sold in Japan and several European countries.

In Japan, the Starlet is available in many variants, Standard, DX, Soleil, XL, XL Lisse, S, SE, Si, Si Limited, Canvas Top Si, Ri, Turbo R, and Turbo S. The model Ri and Turbo R is a variant berbody light for racing purposes. While the Turbo S is a strong and classy. S, Si, Canvas Top Si, Ri, Turbo R and the only 3-door, 5-door SE only, while others have a 3 and 5 door. Model Turbo S and Turbo R has bigger bumpers and body kit.
For the export market, Starlet comes in Standard and XL models 1000 cc engine, 1.3 DX, XL 1.3, 1.3 S, and 1.3 SE engine of 1300 cc and 1500 cc diesel engine Standard. Based XL 1.0 or 1.3 SE, Si Limited models come with front and rear spoilers, and is offered in white and black two-tone silver.
Starlet 80 Series (1990-1998)
This model uses the P80 platform with a more rounded body design than previous models. For the Japanese market, Starlet gets new 16 valve engine 4E-F (carburetor), 4E-FE (injection), and 4E-FTE (injection, turbo). Starlet export continue to use 1E, 2E, or 2E-E. 1N diesel engine mounted on Starlet in Japan and some countries in Europe. Starlet for Japan and Indonesia have a garnish on trunk so that the rear license plate mounted in the bumper, while for the other countries, the license plate mounted on the panel because it does not have a trunk garnish.
Variant Starlet JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) is Soleil, Soleil L (which is most salable), S, X Limited, Canvas Top, Gi, and GT Turbo. In Indonesia, Starlet XL marketed in variant 1.0, 1.3 SE and 1.3 SE Limited which later became the 1.3 SE-G at the 1992 SE-G has a luxurious interior as X Limited, as well as the rear lights and garnish as Gi and GT facelift version . In 1996, the SE and SE-G gets a facelift back to the hood and body kit the same as Gi. This model is called Fantastic Starlet.
Starlet 80-series production in Japan was stopped in December 1995, but continued in Indonesia until 1998.
Starlet 90 Series (1996-1999)
1.3 SLi 1997 Starlet (EP91)
Basically, there are 3 kinds Starlet for the Japanese market, namely Reflet (normal), Glanza (sports), and Carat (classic). Starlet Reflet consists of a very simple version of the standard, middle-class f Reflet replace Soleil L, and Reflet x that have a lot more equipment. Glanza Starlet Glanza consists of the sporty S, and the Glanza V Turbo high-ability. Reflet, Carat, and the Glanza S 4E-FE engine, V-engine turbo Glanza 4E-FTE, and Reflet standards are also available with a diesel engine 1N. All Starlet in Japan has SRS airbag for the driver as standard equipment.
To export variant engined Starlet 2E and 4E-FE. In some European countries, Starlet offered with a variety of trim levels.
