The Cruise Ship Costa Concordia

Costa Concordia is a Concordia-class cruise ship owned and operated by Costa Cruises. This ship was built in the Sestri Ponente shipyard of Fincantieri in Italy belongs. The name Concordia intended to mengkspresikan hopes for "harmony, unity, and peace continues between European countries". 

This ship is the first ship in the Concordia class, along with her ​​sisters, Costa Serena, Costa Pacifica, Costa Favolosa, Costa and Carnival Splendor fascinosa built for Carnival Cruise Lines. Costa Concordia set sail in July 2006 and is the largest ship built in Italy, with a gross tonnage weight of 114.500 GT. 
This ship is getting international attention in January 2012 after ran aground off the coast of Isola del Giglio, Italy, which resulted in 4,000 people were evacuated. At least 25 people were killed , 42 wounded, and 7 are still unknown

The concept and development 
The ship which was not named was booked on the date of January 19, 2004 in Fincantieri and built in the Sestri Ponente shipyard in Genoa with the number shipyard 6122.  The ship was launched at Sestri Ponente in 2 September 2005,  and on time of its construction is the largest Italian cruise ship ever built. This ship is transferable to Costa on June 30, 2006


Equipment 
Costa Concordia had 1,500 cabins; 505 cabins have private balconies and 55 of them have direct access to the Samsara Spa; 58 suites have private balconies and 12 of them have direct access to the spa. Costa Concordia has one of the sea areas of sports facilities in the world, the Samsara Spa, a two-level fitness center of 6,000 m (20,000 ft) equipped gymnasium, thalassoterapi pool, sauna, Turkish bath and solarium. This ship has four swimming pools, two of which are equipped with a mechanical cover, five spas, and a poolside glass in the pool deck. 
There are five restaurants on the ship, including the Club Concordia and Samsara are just serving food ordering. There are 13 bars, including a cigarette and cognac bar and a coffee and chocolate bar. 
Entertainment options include a three-level theater, casino, and a discotheque. There is also a children's play area equipped with PlayStation products. This ship has a Grand Prix motor racing simulator and Internet cafes. 

Incidents and accidents 
November 2008: Collision with pier
On November 22, 2008, the Costa Concordia suffered damage to its bow when high winds in the city of Palermo, Sicily, pushing this boat to the dock. There were no injuries and the repair ship directly implemented. 

January 2012: Shattered

On January 13, 2012, around 21:00 local time (UTC + 1), the Costa Concordia ran aground in the waters of the reef near Isola del Giglio and overturned, resulting in 25 people dead   of a total of 4,229 people.  On January 24, about seven people still missing. Three people were rescued from the boat that day, 24 hours after the accident. The three men were two passengers and the crew from the ship Saparua Mongolia. 
A total of 170 East Timorese who worked aboard Costa Concordia revealed survived although two people were injured
