The origin comes from Mercedes-Benz invention of Karl Benz over gasoline powered car in the world's first patented in January 1886, the Benz Patent Motorwagen. as well as the services of Gottlieb Daimler and engineer Wilhelm Maybach. Cars Mercedes was first sold in 1901 by Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft. The first car to wear the brand Mercedes-Benz produced in 1926 after the merger between Daimler Benz company into Daimler-Benz company.

There is no record of the two inventors ever met.
In the early 1900s, Daimler made in Untertürkheim (also a city district of Stuttgart) are sold with success by the Austrian dealer named Emil Jellinek, who supplied the car with the name of his daughter, Mercedes.
