VW Production in Russia Unloaded
Car And Vehicles Review- VW Production in Russia Unloaded,Volkswagen is getting restless in Russia following the increasingly tense political conditions, weakening of the ruble exchange rate, and a decrease in labor costs. As a result, Europe's largest car manufacturer has decided to reduce its production capacity in Kaluga plant of 150,000 units this year, to just 120,000 units.
According to a local magazine Germany, Automobilwoche, reported by Bloomberg (08/08/2014), this decision has been taken. Kaluga plant currently assembles several models of VW, the Polo and Tiguan. Also there are other models, Skoda Fabia and Octavia.
Regarding this plan, a spokesman for VW chose not to comment on the length. Himself even confirmed that the company's production capacity in the middle of the Kaluga plant is reduced due to unfavorable business conditions.
"However, the VW Group still has a full commitment to the Russian market and will continue to meet its investment plans in Russia," said the spokesman.
