BMW i8 Illusion Becomes Reality

BMW i8 which looks like a car from a movie Tron uses two sources of power, three-cylinder engine of 1.5 L turbo-powered 231 hp to 131 hp electric motor powered lithium-ion battery. 

Both of these sources are integrated into a system called plug-in hybrid, which this vehicle can cover a distance of up to 37 kilometers and a top speed of 120 kilometers per hour using only electric power.

As for the petrol engine, acceleration of 0 to 100 kilometers per hour can be achieved in a time of 4 seconds and a fuel consumption of 2.1 liters per 100 kilometers. 

Not only are the power source of major concern, elegant design and futuristic able to steal the attention of anyone who sees it. Using Life Drive architecture, the BMW i8 uses two separate independent modules.

Combustion engine and electric motor, battery pack power, and chassis components as well as vehicle safety features developed with the aluminum Drive module, while the main elements of the Life module is reinforced plastic passenger cell with carbon fiber (CFRP) for vehicles with seat 2 + 2 . 

Empty weight is 1,485 kilograms BMW i8, and the Life Drive architecture also has a positive effect on how the weight is distributed. The battery pack is positioned low in the central position, which helps give the vehicle a low center of gravity, it also increases the level of safety. The center of gravity of the BMW i8 is less than 460 mm from the ground, so it is lower than all other BMW Group models that exist today.
