Audi AG is a German car manufacturer that sells cars in various classes and the price for the upper middle class.  Audi is also the owner of Ducati and Lamborghini brands. Audi vehicles are produced in 7 factories around the world, while Ducati and Lamborghini brands each have one plant that is located in Italy. Audi's headquarters are in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. 

The company is fully owned (99.5%) by the Volkswagen Group since 1966, having previously bought from Daimler-Benz. marked the rebirth of Audi Audi F103 launch in 1965. 

The company name is actually derived from the name of its founder August Horch call, which has the meaning of "hearing" and when translated into Latin became Audi. 

Slogan Vorsprung durch Technik is the Audi, which can mean "Excellence through technology".

Largest owners of Audi AG is Volkswagen AG, which owns 99 per cent stake in the company from 1966 Lately, the possibility of Audi released by Volkswagen has been debated. 

From 2002 to 2007, Audi headed the Audi Brand Group, a sub-division of the Volkswagen Group which consisted of Audi, SEAT and Lamborghini.

Dated 14 November 1899, August Horch (1868-1951) established a company named A. Horch & Cie. in the Ehrenfeld district of Cologne, but because of the quarrel between him and the supervisory board of the company, Horch had to resign. A few years later, Horch established a second company called Horch Automobil-Werke GmbH in 1909 the first car created by Audi, the Audi Type A 10-powered 22 hp Sport-Phaeton, was produced in 1910 in Zwickau. 

Similarly in 1909, Horch was forced out of the company he founded himself.  Then he set up a new company in Zwickau again but kept the name Horch. His old partner sued him for trademark infringement. German Supreme Court (Reichsgericht)  finally decided that the Horch brand formerly owned by his company.  

August Horch was banned for using the family name for his new business enterprise. He also held a meeting with his business friends, Paul and Franz Fikentscher. At the apartment of Franz Fikentscher, they discuss what a suitable name for their new company. The story, while meeting the same way, boys Franz was studying Latin in a corner of the room. Several times he looked like to say seseatu but he continued to learn until finally said: "father audiatur et Altera pars ... would not it be better just called audi than Horch?"  ("Horch" in German means listening, and in Latin is "Audi".) soon, the idea was enthusiastically accepted by all the people that were there. the first Audi car, the Audi type B, 10 / 28PS launched in 1910 

August Horch left the company in 1920 because it was appointed Minister of Transport, but is still active in the company as the board of trustees. In 1921, Audi became the first German automotive company launched
