Car And Vehicles Industry
The automotive industry designs, develops, manufactures, markets, and sells motor vehicles throughout the world. In 2008, more than 70 million motor vehicles, including cars and commercial vehicles were produced in the world.
In 2007, overall there are 71.9 million new cars were sold worldwide: 22.4 million units in Europe; 21.4 million units in Asia; 19.4 million units in the United States and Canada; 4.4 million units in Latin America; 2.4 million units in the Middle East, and 1.4 million units in Africa. The market in North America and Japan has been stagnant, while in South America and some Asian countries is growing rapidly.
There are about 250 million cars in the United States today. Around the world, there are an estimated 806 million cars and light trucks in 2007; burn over 260 billion gallons of the United States (1 gallon = 3.8 liters) of fuel annually. This number continues to increase rapidly, especially in China and India. Some opinions say that urban transport systems based on the car will spend excessive amounts of energy, increasing the risk of disease, and a reduction in service despite increased investment. The sustainable transport movement focuses to resolve this issue.
In 2008, with oil prices rising very quickly, the auto industry felt the combination of rising raw material prices and the changing nature of public vehicles in choosing a vehicle. The automotive industry in some countries are also increasingly competing with the public as consumers are increasingly considering the use of their vehicles. About half of the 51 factory lightweight vehicles in the United States is expected to be closed down permanently in the next few years, with around 200,000 jobs disappeared. Meanwhile, the Chinese market is now the largest automobile producer and market in the world. China's car sales in 2009 reached 13.6 million units, up dramatically from 1 million units in 2000
